Welcome to the Black ETA Alliance

Unlocking Generational Wealth Through Acquisition and Exit

The Black ETA Alliance (BETA) is Canada’s leading national initiative accelerating Black economic empowerment through a dual strategy: Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) and Exit Readiness for Black Founders. Our mission is to transform the trajectory of Black entrepreneurship by opening powerful new pathways to ownership, operational leadership, and enterprise value creation.

By mobilizing the acquisition of existing businesses and preparing current Black entrepreneurs to scale and exit on their own terms, we are reshaping the Canadian economy—creating lasting generational wealth, expanding employment opportunities, and advancing inclusive growth that benefits everyone.

Our Vision

A prosperous Canada where Black entrepreneurs are full participants in the business ownership lifecycle—from acquiring companies to scaling and selling them strategically. We envision a future where Black wealth builders no longer face binary options between risky startups or perpetual sole proprietorship, but instead have access to the full spectrum of growth, capital, and equity-building opportunities.

Our Mission

To build a thriving ecosystem that enables Black Canadians to:

  • Acquire and operate established businesses through ETA, and

  • Scale, value, and exit their own companies as legacy builders and wealth creators.

We accomplish this by:

  • Creating a culturally appropriate pipeline of Black ETA entrepreneurs and exit-ready founders.

  • Mobilizing catalytic capital and alternative financing models tailored to the Black experience.

  • Delivering rigorous training in valuation, operations, acquisition strategy, and succession planning.

  • Partnering with policymakers, lenders, and investors to design inclusive, data-informed economic policy.

  • Supporting peer-to-peer learning, mentorship, and post-acquisition operational success.

Why ETA and Exit Readiness Matter

The Canadian economy is on the verge of a massive succession crisis—over 75% of small business owners plan to retire in the next decade. Yet, far too few Black entrepreneurs are positioned to capitalize on these transitions due to structural barriers, lack of access to capital, and gaps in acquisition literacy. At the same time, Black-owned businesses face systemic hurdles when scaling and exiting, often selling below value or failing to exit at all—resulting in significant lost equity and economic leakage from Black communities.
